Lara Look-A-Like

Miss. Croft aka Kim Lee

How I met the greatest
adventurer of all time

The first time I saw Lara Croft, "like" was not quite the word to describe how I felt about this incredible woman. I was wandering around in a computer store when I happened across a box with a picture of a girl who resembled me. Brown eyes, dark hair, almond-shaped eyes, a thin frame, and a stance that called out the adventurous side in me. I was full of curiousity, and elated at finding out that the game was about exploring ancient tombs and historical places. Just exactly the kind of game I was waiting for! Then my gaze fell on the girl's enormous chest, and all warm thoughts about the game and her immediately flew out the window. I walked off and prepared to dismiss it as a horny boys' game.

A few months later, I was at my uncle's baby shower and he offered to let me play on his computer when he saw that I was sitting alone quite bored. I looked around his shelves for a game to play, and I saw the box with the girl that looked like me! Since my curiousity still lingered strongly, I chose to try it out, and was immediately blown away with the story and the graphics. I was so in awe of Lara; she is everything that I wanted to be, and she goes to places that I want to go to. She completes in me what I am not. In short, I'd found my alter ego.

I've followed all her adventures since, and dressing up as a Lara-lookalike is my contribution to the memory of her, to show how much I admire her. It also lets me be Lara...if only just for a little while.

More About Me -   I am Chinese, and was born in the tiny little island of Singapore on March 02, 1981, which means that my sign is Pisces. Like Lara, I like ancient history (especially Ancient Egypt), hiking (I want to go to the Grand Canyon someday) and exploring mysterious places. On family trips abroad, I'm always the one who wants to wander off somewhere that is not on the designated route. I am also conscious of my physique, ever since I played Tomb Raider, and exercise to maintain a figure, because playing the games have inspired me to be as strong as Lara.

I share Lara's adventurous spirit, and like handling weapons such as guns and knives, although I have never fired a real weapon in my life as my country does not allow its citizens to own any type of rifle. So I frequent video arcades and play those popular cop games so that I get to hold a gun (even if it's a toy!) and shoot at bad men. ;-) I do have a set of Japanese souvenier katana blades at home, and I like handling them for fun, even though they belong to my dad. I possess a bit of Lara's rebellious, independent nature, as well as her more sensual side which you can see in promotional and comic-book pictures of her. On the contrary, though, I am quite dramatic, emotional, affectionate, and scream at cockroaches....things that Lara is not!

Otherwise, I spend much of my time at a local art college pursuing a degree in 3D-Animation, so that one day I can make more games like Tomb Raider ;-), drawing, reading and puttering around on my computer.
